In 2014, St. Nicholas Russian Orthodox Church celebrated 85 years in the Stratford Community!
In 1929 a group of Russian immigrants consisting of Sikorsky Aviation Corporation employees, families and friends founded our Church. The Church's original location was in a small house on Lake Street. The Church quickly outgrew this space and in 1942 the present Church, a 12th Century Novgorod style building was dedicated. This Church continues to be a stunning landmark in Stratford to this day.
The services are held in Old Church Slavonic and English. In addition, Sunday School for the children of the parish is held on Sunday's following the Church Service during the school year.
